How can SDU strengthen Denmark’s life science industry?

June 26 2025

Last week, Alphalyse welcomed Jens Ringsmose, Rector at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU), for a visit focused on the strong collaboration between SDU and Alphalyse:

  • A significant number of Alphalyse employees are SDU alumni with master’s or PhD degrees.
  • This semester, we have hosted seven SDU students from undergraduate to PhD level, who have gained valuable hands-on experience from a commercial biotech environment.
  • We also regularly participate in project and networking events at the Faculty of Science, University of Southern Denmark.

Part of our success stems from this ongoing collaboration, which provides us with cutting-edge academic insights – particularly through our work with the world-leading SDU Protein Research Group.

Our partnership with the SDU is mutually beneficial:

Visit to Alphalyse by Jens Ringssmose, SDU

🔬 SDU students gain real-world experience through internships, thesis projects, and Industrial PhDs.

🏢 Alphalyse gains early access to top talent and fresh academic perspectives.

🌱 The local life science ecosystem grows stronger when graduates are inspired to build their careers here in the region.

We thank Jens Ringsmose for his time and the dialogue on how academia and industry can advance together – and create lasting value for students, research, and the Danish biotech sector.
