Enhancing safety and quality in next generation biopharmaceuticals

May 22 2025

We are proud to announce that Innovation Fund Denmark has awarded funding for an exciting new Industrial PhD project at Alphalyse.

Over the next 3 years, Martine Taagholt will lead this project under the expert guidance of Ejvind MΓΈrtz, Alphalyse COO and co-founder, Anette Holck Draborg, Senior Protein Scientist at Alphalyse, and Thomas J.D. JΓΈrgensen, Associate Professor at Syddansk Universitet - University of Southern Denmark.

We will conduct the project in close collaboration with:

πŸ”¬ CITCO – Centre for Cellular Immunotherapy of Haematological Cancer Odense, OUH Odense Universitetshospital – Svendborg Sygehus
πŸŽ“ The Protein Research Group at the Faculty of Science, University of Southern Denmark
🌍 Several biopharmaceutical developers across the EU and USA

Next-generation biopharmaceuticals – such as cell, gene, and viral therapies – hold immense promise for treating rare and severe diseases.

However, their complexity also demands precise analytical tools to ensure their safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

This PhD project focuses on advancing LC-MS-based analytical tools for characterizing biologic drug products and process-derived protein impurities. The aim is to support biopharmaceutical developers in optimizing production processes and documenting product purity.

Please join us in congratulating Martine and the entire team – we wish her the best of luck with her research! πŸŽ‰
